BOREHOLE PROJECT:
Phases 1, 2, 3 completed!
ALL PHASES COMPLETE!
- Trenches carrying pipes dug.
- Installation of two 5000 L Jo Jo water tanks and additional tank of 2500 L in the valley. Taps at each tank station.
- Additional piping and taps for stock trough.
- Villagers erected protective fencing and additional chilli-string around this, under the direction of Bongani Dlodlo of VFWT.
A gusher! Our borehole in BH 29 is magnificent!
PHASE 2 will take the water to both sides of the valley, to a 5000 litre Jojo container on either side and onwards to taps.

BH29 is the poorest village in all the villages under Hwange District, with a failing 1950’s era borehole. Hunger has always struck the villagers as they live in a sandy area not good for many crops.
With the recently drilled borehole by Village Force Africa, their lives will change tremendously as they will be able to plant and water crops and vegetables at their own time. The rains haven’t been good for the area since time immemorial. Their problems have been overcome by the drilling of the water.
NEW: DIVERSIFICATION & AGRICULTURAL UPGRADE
Why Diversification?
BH 29 depends entirely on subsistence farming for survival. The recent drought showed how vulnerable the village is once crops fail.
We intend not only working to change agricultural practices and methods but through initiating diversification projects we hope to provide sustainable incomes and dollars to buy food should crops fail.
These have been agreed with the villagers and build on existing skills. Diversification projects depend on a reliable water source i.e. Borehole Campaign Phase 2.
Possible Projects could include: Rabbit Breeding , Mushroom Farming, Sewing Enterprises, Chicken Farming…

Plea for help with water
Village BH29, North Western Zimbabwe endures the worst conditions in the area. PHASE 1: An integrated water initiative, a borehole, water storage and outlets, and security fencing will provide water for crops, stock, and people in BH29.The borehole will be solar-powered. We have already raised nearly £6,000 towards the total needed. To ensure a lasting solution and adequate year-round supply with storage, we need at least £16,000. Help us save lives and restore livelihoods.

EMERGENCY FOOD AID CAMPAIGN is SUSPENDED!
The Rains Have Come!
Emergency Food Aid now paused.
Final (current) food aid was delivered on the March 16th 2025 – the 13th Food Aid.
The rains have been good and consistent with a good Harvest expected.
Support is no longer essential. 13 Food Aid payments have been made since March 2024 and the most vulnerable have been supported consistently during the severe drought.
Total sent in food aid = £3,352
Cry of despair at crop failure
The state of emergency following this year’s failure of the annual rains had a severe impact on BH29 and surrounding villages. All crops are destroyed. There was NO HARVEST. There is no animal feed. VFA monthly sustains 23 vulnerable villagers with cornmeal, protein beans, oil, and sugar, costing £12 per villager. Numbers of villagers now in desperate need have doubled as food stores run out. After 4 VFA food aid drops, we have funding for only one more. This was life-threatening.
