VFA is delighted to announce the start of its first mushroom-growing project in BH 29. Two villagers and Bongani Dlodlo, of Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, attended a local study day.

A one-day practical training workshop on mushroom production, which was subsequently spread over two days owing to a technical difficulty on the first day, was successfully conducted to equip participants from Hlanganani Village (BH29) with essential knowledge and skills required to start and maintain small-scale mushroom farming. The focus was on low-cost, sustainable practices suitable for hot climates and resource-constrained environments.

Sikathasile Ndebele and Odda Sibanda from our village were sponsored by VFA, along with Bongani Dlodlo who has offered to lead the project. We shall keep everyone updated with progress, meanwhile, here are a few pictures of the story so far!

Update: 28 Oct 2025: We now have a team of 6 villagers to start the first pilot project. We have linked with Mycoview’s experienced grower, Nancy Samberere, who will mentor the project. Nancy lives in Victoria Falls.
