FoodAid #10, The Rains have Come, Carols, Funding…

The village was sent Food Aid #10 in time for Christmas, and the villagers were as ever extremely moved and grateful.
The crops have been sown and, as long as the rains continue, the crops will be ready by March when hopefully we can concentrate on our Borehole Project and not divert funds to keeping people alive!

Prices have continued to rise, and the Food Aid we provide now costs around £300+/- each month. January will see us sending out our Food Aid Shipment #11.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us raise the funds.
We now have over £80,00 ring-fenced for use towards our borehole project, following some significant donations just before Christmas.

CAROLS
We raised £374 at our carol event on December 15th, which attracted over 50 neighbours and many children. We had a great time singing carols on a mild and calm day, joined by two local musicians on trumpet and flute. Lesley Ann led the singing and added in “Come unto Him” from Handel’s Messiah, whilst Alistair played our keyboard throughout. Local lighting expert Brian Gasson brought over a fantastic range of coloured lighting, and the front of the house was lit with a snowstorm as a backdrop for the event!

Mince pies, sausage rolls, and seasonal Fayre were provided by the team (and some neighbours!), and many generously donated considerable sums. A big “Thank You” to professional dancer Andrew Stevens who dressed up as Santa and performed a specially choreographed dance in full Santa outfit. Everyone had a wonderful time, and this has now been requested as a permanent yearly event!  We also collected for Hastings Food Bank and have provided 55-60 meals for this local cause.

FUNDING
We have been invited to stage 2 of The Fore Foundation’s funding applications and are deep into writing our bid.

With your help this year, we hope to see a transformation of expectations and resilience in BH29.
THANK YOU
