Expanding our Vision

WATER FOR LIFE
PROMOTING SELF-HELP

Developing the borehole project brought us rapidly to the conclusion that this could not be a stand-alone project. All our projects are interlinked to create future self-sustainability and independence.

Water & Sanitation

  • Borehole, Water Awareness, Sanitation
  • Water collection & storage

Medical Facility, Community/Tourist Centre; Transportation

  • Treat health issues on-site
  • Develop skills and income generation
  • Education facility; upskilling
  • Transportation: for community and food-aid distribution

Emergency Food Aid Programme [Suspended at present]

A Moving Target | Promoting Self-Help

By completing Phase 2 of the borehole project, a new way forward will be created for village BH29. Reliable and easily accessible water is at the heart of all improvements and to the future resilience and sustainability of the village.

Our sanitation project will be closely allied to borehole- and water-awareness education and thus avoid water-borne and sanitation-related diseases.

The introduction of fuel-efficient stoves would reduce time and energy spent in collecting and chopping fuel, improve the environment for wildlife and allow more time for participation in diversification projects.

The roof of a Community/Medical post would act as part of an efficient rain-water collection system for agricultural purposes.

A Community/Medical post will lead to health security and create an opportunity for learning new skills through the building and development of the centre.

Greater resilience to drought will be achieved through adopting an innovative programme of new agricultural and stock-keeping practices, working in collaboration with the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust.

A 4x4 vehicle will be vital in providing transport for the community and for the diversification and skills development projects whilst also providing safe school transport.

All these projects are intrinsically interlinked.
